Checkin4Charity at our Foursquare Meetup

Portsmouth Foursquare is proud to announce that our Foursquare Meetup will be supporting Movember Team Boston! But we need YOUR help to make it happen! Just check-in on foursquare at The Music Hall while you are at the NHTweetUp SceneUp and for every person checked in (up to a swarm badge [50 people]), $13 $22 (so far!) will be donated to the Movember Foundation. Get everyone to check in on foursquare so we can raise the most money for Movember AND maybe even get a swarm badge to boot.

Special thanks to MicroArts for getting us started with this foursquare donation pledge (disclaimer: I work for MicroArts) at $5 – UPDATE: Christine Major from NHTweetUp just boosted the total to $6 per checkin! 11:00AM UPDATE: Kevin Duffy from The Duffy Agency just jumped our total up to $8 per checkin! Thanks! 12:58PM UPDATE: Jason Boucher of Boucher Media and Christine Major(again!) just donated an additional $0.50 each per checkin! We’re now at $9 per checkin! THANKS!! 1:18PM UPDATE: We’re up to $10 now thanks to Joshua Cyr ( who donated an additional $1 per checkin! 2:02PM UPDATE: Our own Brian DeKoning is donating $1/checkin and Vital Design is donating $2/checkin too! 4:24PM UPDATE: The following pledges just in: Mark Dearborn and Infinite Imaging $1 per checkin as well as awesome 4sq stickers to the first 50 checkins; Flea MarketingImportant RecordsLost Sailor Records (see their band at the Riverhouse at 9 p.m. btw) each at $1 per checkin; and PixelMEDIA coming through big time with $5 per checkin to push us over the $20 per checkin mark! THANK YOU!

AND we would like to see other individuals, companies and organizations join in too! Will you join them? Can we see $6 per check in $7 per check in? $9 per check in? $10 per check in? $11 per check in? $14 per check in? $15 per check in? $20? $25 per check in? $30? $50?! Please note that we’re limiting this to the first 50 check-ins (which would unlock a foursquare swarm badge for everyone checked in!).

If you’d like to make a direct donation to Movember please visit Portsmouth Foursquare’s Team Boston Movember donation page. Thanks!

More about Movember:

The Movember Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that runs the global men’s health initiative, Movember.

Each year, Movember, the month formerly known as November, is responsible for the sprouting of thousands of Mo’s (Australian slang for moustache, where the movement began) on men’s faces around the world, raising vital awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically for cancer affecting men.

Men who grow moustaches for the month of Movember, called Mo Bros, become walking, talking billboards for the cause, raising awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by getting friends and family to donate to their Mo-growing efforts. The rules are simple: register online at and start the month of Movember clean-shaven, then grow a moustache for 30 days. Last year, 255,722 men and women across the globe raised $40 million (USD) – all through the power of the Mo.

The money raised as a result of Movember is channeled by our beneficiary partners into a number of world class and innovative research, support, education, and awareness initiatives. Movember funds raised in the US benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation ( and LIVESTRONG (
